load securing regulation UN-R126
UN-R126: New EU safety standard for load securing from July 2024
UN-R126 is a far-reaching regulation of the UN and the European Union that sets a new standard in load securing. It states that from July 1, 2024, in vehicles of class M1 (vehicles for the transport of passengers with a maximum of 8 seats plus the driver's seat), all loads - including four-legged friends - must be protected by certified separating devices in the event of a frontal impact. This regulation applies worldwide, but is particularly relevant for us in the EU and is monitored by the Federal Motor Transport Authority. UN-R126 ensures that only certified and tested separating devices and safety equipment may be used to increase the safety of vehicle occupants and loads alike.
What UN-R126 means for you
Mandatory for all vehicle owners: Only certified
Separating devices will ensure greater safety from 2024.
The UN-R126 regulation marks a decisive step forward in road safety. It underlines the obligation of drivers to use only tested and certified separating devices. This regulation applies equally to private and commercial vehicle owners and makes a significant contribution to improving safety on the roads.
For private individuals:
UN-R126 gives you, the driver, peace of mind that your cargo, including pets, will remain secure in the event of a frontal collision. This minimizes the risk of injury and contributes to an overall safer driving environment.
For commercial users:
Companies, including tradesmen and fleet operators, who use vehicles for transport in accordance with UVV or trade association regulations, benefit from the certainty that their load and their employees are protected by certified and crash-tested separating devices.
Kleinmetall: Pioneer in Safety
With TÜV Nord and crash tests beyond the UN-R126 regulation
Commitment to superior safety standards.
Kleinmetall has taken the introduction of the UN-R126 regulation as an opportunity to take a closer look at its products and development processes and to further optimize them. Safety has always been a central aspect of product development at Erlensee. Through intensive cooperation with TÜV Nord and extensive crash tests, we ensure that our dividers meet the strict requirements of the regulation. These processes underline Kleinmetall's claim to be a leader in safety and to offer products that go beyond the required safety level. In addition, Kleinmetall has undergone an initial assessment by the Federal Motor Transport Authority, in which the quality assurance measures within the company processes in particular were examined and rated positively.
Products that comply with UN-R126 include the well-known

Seeing is believing: UN-R126 put to the test
Experience the innovation and commitment behind UN R126 compliant products in action.
The importance and effectiveness of the UN-R126 regulation is illustrated in these two videos. By the way: Both videos show not only what it means to be UN-R126 compliant, but also the innovation and commitment behind our products.
"Not compliant - not safe"
This video shows what can happen if the load securing does not comply with UN-R126. It illustrates the potential dangers and risks in a frontal collision if the load is not secured.
"UN-R126 compliant - safe"
Here you can see how UN-R126 certified barriers and dog gates hold up even under extreme conditions. It demonstrates the performance of the testing facilities specially developed by Kleinmetall, in which significant investments in money and know-how have been made to ensure the highest safety standards.
crash test procedure
The time-consuming and costly crash tests, which are carried out and documented by the accredited TÜV Nord, are crucial for ensuring the highest safety standards. After a positive test, the Federal Motor Transport Authority issued approval numbers for these separating devices.
